Uroflowmetry

Uroflowmetry is a non-invasive diagnostic test that measures the flow rate of urine during urination. It evaluates the efficiency of the urinary tract and helps detect conditions affecting bladder function, such as an enlarged prostate, urinary obstruction, or neurological disorders.

During the test, the patient is asked to urinate into a special device called a uroflowmeter. This device records the speed and volume of urine flow. The results help determine if the bladder and urethra are functioning properly. The test is often recommended for individuals experiencing symptoms like slow urine flow, frequent urination, or difficulty emptying the bladder completely.

Uroflowmetry is often used to diagnose conditions like benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), bladder dysfunction, and urinary retention. The results can help doctors decide on further tests or treatments, such as medication, lifestyle changes, or surgical procedures if necessary.
