As adults, we have enough experience taking care of our teeth and have been told sometime by our doctors on what’s right and what’s wrong. Sharing this knowledge with our children will make our kids develop excellent dental hygiene at an early stage and get them accustomed to look after their own teeth at their own.
But, at such a young age, and with so much information on the internet, it is hard to understand when to begin sharing this knowledge with the kids. For experienced parents, with their kids some tried and tested methods of treating their teeth work well even for their siblings, while other’s don’t. For new parents the experience is unique. Getting into the habit of looking after your kids teeth can become a chore, but as they grow older and take charge it can also become an excellent source of encouragement. Here are a few tips for healthy teeth in kids to get you started.
No Time Like Present
You should get your kids to look after and take care of their teeth once their first milk tooth has broken through. Obviously at this stage, you may have to do the brushing and this may continue until they are seven years old at the most.
Initially, make it a point to add little bit of low-flouride toothpaste to the brush as you brush the milk teeth. As they grow older you can get to use a regular brush to brush the teeth and later on supervise as they brush the teeth on their own.
Healthy diet
Nowadays, we get lots of sweet and savory foods which are high in sugar, starch and carbohydrates, which all together or separately are not good for the health of the kid’s teeth. Eating an unhealthy diet can cause tooth decay, which can lead to problems such as tooth decay, sensitivity and tooth aches which will make your kids life miserable and make them cranky from the time they are awake to when they sleep.
